Lev Square Fest 2026, Sadia's Poem

This year one of our younger neighbours, Sadia, wrote a poem for Lev Square Fest 2026. Towards the end of the day after the musicians had wrapped up, she bravely took to the stage with mic in hand and performed her poem in front of a crowd and was met by a round of applause. Thanks, Sadia!

🎉 Welcome to Our Street Party

On this bright and cheerful fourteenth of June,

Our whole street comes alive and bursts into bloom —

Colourful bunting strung high between lampposts and walls,

Flutters and dances where the soft summer breeze calls.

Banners hang proud above every gate and door,

Guiding you in to the joy we have in store;

Sunlight glows golden across the tarmac and stone,

Turning our familiar road into something new and our own.

The air fills with scents that lift every heart and mind —

Sizzling barbecues and sausages grilled to find,

Fresh crusty bread, buttery pies, and cakes sweet and light,

Crisp garden salads and treats brought from every home in sight.

Jars of lemonade, iced tea, and cold drinks to share,

Passed from hand to hand with kindness and care;

Every dish carries a story, a little part of each place,

Served with a smile and a warm, friendly face.

Music drifts gently from window to open gate,

A lively rhythm that makes everyone feel great —

From favourite tunes to songs we all know by heart,

Setting the pace for a day that feels perfect from the start.

Laughter rings out, clear, loud, and completely free,

Mixing with chatter as happy as can be;

Voices rise and fall in good-natured cheer,

Turning our quiet street into something lively and dear.

Long tables stretch out along the pavement line,

Covered with cloths in colours bright and fine;

Chairs are pulled up, space made for one and for all,

No one stands alone, no one feels small.

Neighbours who’ve lived here for decades and years,

Share stories of old times, of laughter and tears;

They recall how the street has grown, changed, and stayed,

And the friendships that time has never faded.
